Soon .. Soon Spring will Arrive!

Browsing through my picture files last night I found the above Crocus dated March 17, 2010.   Now that puts the pep back in my step!   Have you ever noticed when you become excited about something, your actions become quicker and you are more animated..could it be a sign of happiness?!?   I definitely feel that way thinking about gardening and anticipating the beauty of the flowers arriving in a few weeks.

Daffodils taken April 2, 2010 …… soon

Soon spring will arrive and I will be ready!   We attended a Garden Show this past weekend and there was much talk about preparing for the  arrival of the garden season.   One of the speakers talked of native plants and proudly showed picture after picture of her beautiful efforts in the garden and how to achieve the same results.   Pictures are such an important reminder to refresh our memory and bring happiness but also as a note of comparison and reflection from year to year.   Wondering if my grandkids grandkids would enjoy a Gardening Journal full of beautiful pictures from Great Great Granny!

A few herb plants I purchased at the show are Rosemary, Stevia and Lemongrass.   I have found these a little difficult to start from seed and seeing them growing right along in little pots I had to bring them home.

Also thank you very much Mary Ann  for sending me these vegetable seeds which I can’t wait to start.   I will be adding them to my Gardening List for 2011 – Purple Beauty Sweet Pepper, Amana Orange Tomato, Black Cherry Tomato and Black Krim Tomato.

Soon .. Soon Spring will Arrive and I am ready!!

  13. Thank you all 🙂 So far with the Stevia I am still learning – just tasted the leaves last summer & they taste just like sweet sugar, so in a tea would be good. Now at the herb show this weekend someone was selling dried ground green Stevia. I have purchased from the store & that is white so I am guessing they further process it…it is Very expensive! I have seen a few cookbooks out there on Amazon.

  14. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!

  26. Enjoyed your photographs. It’s been a long winter for many, but me, I am in Miami, FL. Now I can boast, but wait until August, when I am wishing that fall or winter comes. I will enjoy my temperatures now (60’s) while I can. The flowers are starting to bloom again…or better yet, always are blooming here. You are all invited.

  27. I definitely am sensing the arrival of spring with every lightening morning on my way to work and the sound of birds in the bare trees above me. Like you, I am more than eager to get my hands back in the dirt and have my backyard returned to its food-producing glory!

  58. I myself cannot wait for spring, the issue of no sun really brings me down. THE SUN IS MY POWER, MY POWER TO HAPPINESS

  59. I can’t wait for spring either! My garden has been sitting around for some time while I’ve been at college and away working, so this will be the first spring I’ve been able to see and photograph it in a couple of years.

  60. I saw a robin on my walk February 12th. And I am really delighting in watching the water trickle down the side of the street as the snow melts. This has been a long, hard winter which makes looking forward to spring that much more exciting.

    Thanks for the reminders!

  61. There is that warmth that makes one to do thing quicker just like how things move well on spring and are colored by the blossoming flowers.

  66. oh, i wish it was always spring

  67. I’m very excited about spring coming. I’m tired of being cold. Besides everything looks so beautiful in Spring.

  68. Lovely photos. It’s a nice coincidence that I was also going though my spring photos yesterday in anticipation of the new season. I guess we’ve all had enough of the winter and are looking forward to spring.
I’ve never had any luck with growing rosemary from seed either, I think they’re notorious for being hard to start. I was ready to give up, but I may try it one more time before I head for the garden shop.

    Congratulations on being FP!

  69. Thanks goodness! I took about thirty crocus pictures the year I was living in the UK for grad school because I was SO excited when they came out. Mine weren’t quite as pretty as yours though…

  70. Beautiful. Keep it up! =)

  74. Oh I hope so. And warmth.
Alas I live in one of the places which will only become colder because of the weather change. Darn it.

  76. I CAN’T WAIT for spring… I am not a cold weather girl at all and the smell of spring instantly lifts my mood!!! Thank goodness the groundhog didn’t see his shadow. Bring it on spring!!!

  77. LOVE the crocus picture. One year I slaved away planting about 300 bulbs my dad sent me as a gift. Within a week there were crocus carcuses everywhere. Dang squirrels dug them up and ate each adn every bulb. So sad. I remember them coming up through the snow on my grandmother’s farm in Poland.

  78. Beautiful pics! I love Lemongrass. Great post!

  79. The other day I noticed the Tulip Magnolia tree up the street was blooming, little by little. I love the heck out of that tree! I always know it is one of those earliest harbingers of Spring. I love it!
